My skills in the field of journalism are very extensive. I know the popular programs used by newsrooms today, I have extensive writing training, and I am a social person who has the ability to make people feel comfortable.
The programs I have used extensively are Leaderplus for the 2012 election, iNews, the Sinclair Broadcasting Management System, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, and Photoshop.
My extensive writing skills come from the classes I took at the University of Texas at Austin as a Multimedia Journalism and African and African Diaspora Studies major. I have written for broadcast and web at my internship for Austin’s CBS news affiliate KEYE TV, also I wrote opinion and features for the soft news site HerCampus.com, which is a nationally recognized website for college-aged women.
My skill as a social person is solely personal. I have worked on organizations all around campus and have done volunteer work for many years. I also have worked in a newsroom and have interviewed people for stories who would describe me as comforting and understanding. I am a hard worker as well, who is known for never missing a deadline.
All these skills make me a prime candidate as a reporter and I would love the opportunity to share in my passion and learn from the best.
My dream job down the road would be to be a correspondent for a major news network in Africa. I would like to work with local media as well in East Africa, where journalists are being persecuted. I would also like to work in South Africa because of their rich history and closeness to Western culture. Right now, I believe my major targets my goal to be a foreign correspondent, as I am an AFR major and Journalism major. Eventually, I would like to create documentaries about the African diaspora. I think this is important and newsworthy, because Africa is the birthplace of civilization and should not be forgotten. I would like to specialize in African affairs. The programs I have used extensively are Leaderplus for the 2012 election, iNews, the Sinclair Broadcasting Management System, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, and Photoshop.

I am hoping to work with AP or get in with local media to be able to work in Africa. Hopefully, someone major like CNN will pick me up and I will become a correspondent.
My hobbies include reading novels and "self-help" books, I like to travel, I like to keep up on world politics, and I write poetry and perform in my spare time.
